Assessment Tools & Training Aids
Assessment Tool Kit
This kit combines four essential musculoskeletal assessment tools -- Angle Finder, Caliper, Universal Goniometer, and Telescoping Stick – that are featured in the Legs & Feet video into a handy and cost-effective package.

Angle Finder, 3½-inch
This gravity-driven level can be used in a variety of clinical measurement applications. The floating indicator is set against a scale marked in four "quadrants" of 90 degrees each, making it useful in almost any position. The grooved, straight edges are marked in inches and easily seat a Telescoping Stick for maximum representation of underlying long bones.

Medio-Lateral Caliper
Lightweight and marked in both inches and millimeters, this caliper is a valuable tool for enhancing measurement precision by obtaining bisections of the leg, ankle, and knee, and for measuring ankle width.

Universal Goniometer
This 8-inch model is one of the few flexible goniometers that grants the user a clear view of the lines on the reference arms. Now available with 2-degree increments.

Telescoping Stick
This tool, when used with the Angle Finder, increases the accuracy of joint ROM and leg alignment findings. It telescopes from 4 inches to 15 inches -- sufficient to cover the span of bone lengths that occur most often in the lower extremities, without becoming unwieldy.

Flexible Calibrated Scale
Uniquely useful tool for recording spine curvatures. Bendable vinyl ruler features U.S. and metric scales, will wrap to a minimum 1” radius.

Videos
Legs & Feet: A Review of Musculoskeletal Assessments
The demand for professional accountability using objective outcome measurements is rising, as is interest in a systematic approach to identifying and managing complicated clinical problems. This videotaped review of assessment procedures gives the rehab team the means to meticulously acquire 30 measurable and functionally meaningful findings. This edition has been enhanced with the use of skeletal components to facilitate landmark identification. (VHS; 2 hours; 1997 edition, re-released 1999 and 2002.)

Cast Fabrication Techniques #1: The FlexCast Preparatory AFO®
Ships with a 15-page Practitioner’s Guide and the 70-page monograph Serial Casting to Restore Soft-Tissue Extensibility at the Ankle and Foot.

Casting in a series has been used commonly, as an intervention for reducing deformity in children and adults with orthopedic and neurologic problems, since as early as the 1950's in England and South Africa. Serial casting offers clients with joint deformity of soft tissue origin a relatively safe, non-surgical method of regaining muscle and connective tissue extensibility and joint motion. The casting process uses the tissue's capacity to adapt to gentle elongation by growing new muscle, nerve, and skin cells, and by reorganizing the configuration of surrounding connective tissues. (VHS; 60 minutes; 2000 edition.)
